As more and more people start frequenting the internet, security measures are bound to get tighter and tighter. What happens as a natural result of all the added security is that simply logging into your account on a website becomes infuriatingly difficult. Here’s where SlickLogin’s innovative authentication system steps in to save us from tearing our hairs out in frustration as we try to decipher that illegible CAPTCHA.
SlickLogin is an Israeli start-up company which has developed a log in system which uses sound waves inaudible to the human ears for authenticating devices. But why are they in the news now?
Because Google. Google, as you may (or may not) have noticed has been on a spending spree recently buying up companies left & right. SlickLogin is just one of their latest acquisitions because of their innovation in the security sphere. What their log in system does is generate a unique, inaudible sound from your phone when you reach a log in page, which is picked up by a dedicated app on your phone and sent to the log in system to confirm your identity.
The advantage of this system is that it’s obviously much faster, efficient and overall much slicker (see what I did there??) than, say, a two-step verification system or a CAPTCHA based log in system or even a traditional password based log in system.
My Take:-
It’s definitely going to be less frustrating to log in to websites like this but the old methods, despite being annoying, were indeed pretty secure. The makers of SlickLogin assure us that their method is at least as secure, if not more. Also Google is the company which has bought this technology and judging by Google’s track record, I’m certain that they aren’t going to implement the technology unless they are absolutely certain that it works.
The question that’s burning on my mind is, of course, “Will the Google Glass feature this? Because that would be cool!”
